A thermal break prevents a thermal bridge or a way for heat to transfer away from the building. Polyamide is simply a fibreglass material that is well suited to aluminium since they have similar heating points (very high) and are therefore less likely to warp in extreme cold or heat. Polyamide is almost always used with aluminium products for this reason.

While windows are tested for airtightness to see how much air escapes and thus how much heat is lost, wind resistance is to see how much wind a window can withstand from outside. Typically wind resistance ratings are considered hurricane conditions, which is why the pressure is so much greater.
Airtightness can sometimes be assessed with the consideration of a balustrade or another physical barrier. The BBA can do multiple levels of testing for air permeability, water tightness, and wind resistance. Our aluminium windows have been tested to BS 6375 standards. Aluminium windows often have higher ratings for airtightness and wind resistance than other materials.
